In the blink of a July eye, we have officially passed the halfway mark of our English Language Learners workshop. Over the next three weeks the students in both our middle school and elementary school workshops will be rehearsing a play that will take the stage in mid-August for parents. At the same end-of-summer bash, the students will also celebrate their weeks of crafting handmade masterpieces with The Center for the Book.

Between now and then, fasten your seatbelts for our annual Summer Writing Camp. For the week of August 8th, we will host a lengthy list of literary stars, including Dave Eggers, Stephen Elliott, Robert Mailer Anderson, Julie Orringer, Adam Mansbach, Vendela Vida, and others who will lead workshops on topics ranging from short story writing and journalism to spoken word performance. This once-a-year collaboration with Youth Speaks will be capped off with a collection of the students' work.
