Our hearty congratulations go to Mr. Greg Gallup, 826 Valencia's November teacher of the month!
Mr. Gallup teaches math and science to seventh graders at Edison Charter Academy in San Francisco. He is also the curriculum coordinator. He is described by a colleague as a nurturing teacher who is “very intuitive about families and student-needs and provides a much-needed structure. He takes the time to get to know his students and they feel that he is very approachable, almost like a counselor.”
Another Edison teacher reports that, “He is such a great addition to this school and a great go-to guy for the kids …”
Mr. Gallup radiates enthusiasm and care toward his students and a nominating parent said that he always takes the time to check in on her child. “I asked him to make a phone call about my daughter,” one mother said, “and he did it that day. He cares how my daughter is doing and she’s doing very well. He is a very good teacher.”
Mr. Gallup doesn’t just limit his curriculum to the classroom and has gone beyond the call of duty, taking his students on field trips. A current Edison seventh grade student wrote, “I hope you choose Mr. Gallup because he is a fun teacher. He took us on a camping trip. We learned about mammals and plants. We also went on a night hike. The best part was walking by ourselves in the woods at night. The next morning, Mr. Gallup made us spaghetti for breakfast.”
Another former student of Mr. Gallup’s wrote that she did well in his classes and she thinks that success is because of how much he checked in with her.
“Mr. Gallup always cared about me,” she wrote. “I miss being in his class.”
We are so fortunate to have a teacher like Mr. Gallup in our community! Congratulations again to this very deserving teacher!
