826 Valencia is looking for someone to join our staff part-time as a Design and Publishing Manager. This individual must be fluent in InDesign and have a strong working knowledge of Photoshop. Experience in the field of education and/or publishing is preferred; a collaborative spirit, sense of humor, ability to multi-task, and strong work ethic are required. Persons of color and individuals who are bilingual in English/Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Design and Publishing Manager will:
- Maintain house style, both design and editorial
- Handle design and production of everyday printables (such as program flyers, nametags, invitations, certificates, business cards, notecards, and letterhead) and special printables (including t-shirts, banners, newspapers, newsletters, brochures, outreach mailers, posters, and other oversize items)
- Work directly with the programming staff to create smaller student publications, including chapbooks, newspapers, magazines, and pamphlets
- Prepare images for website, slide shows, and print materials using Photoshop
- Act as in-house print broker (finding printers, getting quotes, tracking proof processes, etc.)
- Maintain design archive of images, previous book files, design templates, logos, clip art, records, etc.
- Answer questions from staff about printing and design
- Manage design-based interns and volunteers
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
