826 Valencia and Everett Middle School Interview the SF Giants!

826 Valencia and Everett Middle School teamed up for the first event of the second year of our partnership with the SF Giants Magazine. Last Friday, the 7th grade journalism students of Everett Middle School's Straight-Up News joined professional newspaper, radio, and television journalists to interview the Giants in the players' clubhouse. They talked to nearly every player on the team, including Tim Lincecum and Pablo Sandoval, and asked questions about what the players do in their spare time, what their childhoods were like, baseball culture, and who inspires them. They learned that Tim Linecum's favorite band used to be Boyz II Men, and most of the players talk to themselves out loud during the game.

Under the guidance of their dedicated teacher, Sarah Roselli, and with the help of 826 tutors, the students will attend several games this spring, and write an article for each issue of the magazine in a dedicated section entitled "Everett's Extra Inning." The perks? Well, besides the excitement of the game, the thrill of seeing their names in print, and the incredible opportunity to chat with the Giants face to face, their seats in the press box guarantee them endless soda and bottomless popcorn. Look for their latest article the next time you're at the ballpark.
