At a recent storytelling and bookmaking field trip here at 826 Valencia, we were lucky enough to have four staff members from Wild Planet Entertainment help a group of elementary school students navigate the creative process. Enthusiastic Planeteers Ken Danielson, Katie Vitucci, Rebecca Faulkner, and even Wild Planet Entertainment’s president, Larry Del Santo, all played an invaluable role in making the field trip a success. They provided much needed support as they helped the students write personalized endings to a thrilling tale they created collectively, and assisted with the harrowing task of printing, collating, and binding books for each young author to take home.
Not only were the Planeteers generous with their time, they also donated 50 swords and eyepatches and 50 pirate hook fortune finders! These awesome gifts, perfect for the aspiring young pirate, will be handed out to students in our after-school tutoring program when they complete a story or poem for our periodical publication of student work, Look Closer.
All of us here at 826 Valencia are enormously thankful for Wild Planet Entertainment’s generosity, and we look forward to future visits by the Planeteers!
