826 Valencia proudly presents April's adult seminar, How to Write a Screenplay, in conjunction with the San Francisco International Film Festival. This special film screening and seminar features Todd Solondz (Happiness, Welcome to the Dollhouse) in conversation with Noah Hawley (The Alibi, The Yes Man). Solondz and Hawley will speak on the nuts and bolts of screenwriting, including conceptualizing, writing parts for specific actors, and guiding a screenplay in order to sell or produce a feature film.
April's seminar includes the San Francisco International Film Festival screening of Solondz's latest film, Palindromes, which will be shown at 2:15pm on April 23, at the Kabuki 8 Theatres (1881 Post Street at Fillmore). Following the film, Solondz and Hawley will lead a discussion, which will conclude at 6:00pm. Cost of entire program is $30. In order to purchase tickets, please check the San Francisco International Film Festival at www.SFFS.org, or (925)866-9559 (M-F, 9AM-4PM).
Palindromes tells the story of twelve-year-old Aviva, who wants to be a mommy. Foiled at every turn by her appalled parents, she hits the road on an adventure pregnant with possibility. This film includes controversial subject matter, and 826 Valencia does not condone or condemn any opinions or behavior within. We are glad to have Todd Solondz share his professional experience as a filmmaker with us and our audience.
