Writing About Music
May 22, 2005

Sunday, May 22
6-9 PM

826 Valencia proudly presents May's adult seminar, Writing About Music. This special seminar features Greil Marcus (author of Like a Rolling Stone: Bob Dylan at the Crossroads and Lipstick Traces), Ben Fong-Torres (former Rolling Stone editor, music journalist, author, radio personality, and local celebrity), Kylee Swenson (from Remix magazine), and Garrett Kamps (music editor at SF Weekly). Oscar Villalon, book editor for the San Francisco Chronicle, will moderate.

The panelists will discuss the challenges and joys specific to writing about music and the music industry. In addition, the seminar will focus on the publishing and business aspects of writing, such as contacting agents, working with magazines, newspapers and publishing houses, communicating with editors, and everything in between. This evening is very much a hands-on affair. No details will be spared, all pertinent secrets will be revealed.
