Join us for an evening seminar moderated by Vendela Vida (writer and founding editor of The Believer magazine, author of And Now You Can Go and Girls on the Verge), who will lead a discussion on the process of writing and publishing short fiction. Panelists for this seminar include:
Ann Packer, author of Mendocino and Other Stories and the bestselling novel, The Dive from Clausen's Pier, and recipient of the James Michener Award, the Great Lakes Book Award, and a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship.
Ryan Harty, author of Bring Me Your Saddest Arizona, and recipient of the Iowa Short Fiction Award, the Henfield-Transatlantic Review Award, and the John Simmons Short Fiction Award.
Adam Johnson, author of the acclaimed short story collection, Emporium, which was nominated for a Young Lions Award, and a novel, Parasites Like Us.
Elise Proulx, literary agent at Frederick Hill/Bonnie Nadell Agency and associate editor at The Threepenny Review.
In addition to reflecting on the writing process, the panelists will address issues related to the publishing aspects of writing, such as contacting agents and working with publishing houses. Each panelist comes to 826 with a unique experience and approach to short story writing. No details will be spared, all pertinent secrets will be revealed.
