On Monday night, students in the Writing with Art and Photographs workshop composed self-portraits in the writing lab and considered their autobiographies. After completing a series of exercises where we used photographs and works of art as prompts for creating characters and stories, the students were finally ready to undergo the same scrutiny and investigate their own portraits. We have worked to consider the relationship between words and images, and to see how a story can evolve when paired with visual tools. Sharing our work with each other may have been the most rewarding part of the evening, as the students were engaged and ready to offer feedback to each other. Join us Monday, April 24th at 6:30 as the students read their favorite selections from their scrapbooks!
