Workshop Notes
Rock Review for Radio really, um, ROCKED!

On Saturday June 28, twelve students ages 8 - 17 showed up at 826 Valencia ready to rock. The kids joined KFOG's Peter Finch for his “Rock Review for the Radio” workshop where they learned the ins and outs of the radio biz. Peter Finch asked them to listen to artists such as Journey and Pink Floyd before teaching them how to write reviews for the radio. Being conversational, keeping sentences short and working personal stories in were his top three tips to the students. The kids even got to voice their opinions into a microphone and their reviews will end up on Peter's KFOG radio show!

All the reviews were of a high caliber, but one in particular stood out. Sam Drysdale, aged 8, coming all the way from Scotland, reviewed Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In The Wall.” Drysdale wrote:

This song started RUBBISH! But then it got better. It made me think of all the kids in school rebelling against our head teacher, Ms Kyle. My favourite [sic] part was when the kids started singing — well, shouting.

All of the students agreed that this workshop rocked their socks off!
