College Diaries
Melissa's Spring Diary

I’m writing to you here at school as I look out of the 5th floor of the Humanities building. I’m on my break right now waiting for my 10 o’clock class, Humanities 220: Values and Culture. What a coincidence? The name is quite misleading, well not exactly, but I take it to be more of an Art History class is anything else. My teacher is quite the fan of art and is really into classical music. The sounds of Mozart and other composers like Debussy really make her quirky. Above all she loves to be sarcastic and throw little jokes at you.

Last time I wrote was in January before I had even started classes and now three months and a half into the semester I am ready for summer vacation. Time does go by fast; it has been a quick semester. Trust me, every year in college students’ days just go by quicker. It seems like you life is piled up with so many things to do. Do your homework, go to work, go to school, try to learn something, head back home, make some dinner, eat, do your homework, take a break, watch your favorite T.V. show, wait I have that book to read, make some time to read but end up reading it before going to sleep, you realize the next morning you just read a page or two and halfway drowned into your pillows and shut your eyes, wake up it’s a whole a new day, let’s do it again, only this time I have to go to work. Yippee! What a day. Next thing you know it's Friday and I’m thinking, “Thank God it’s Friday”- time to go out and dance with friends. But then I remember “Oh, I have that paper to write.” Yep, my life has been busy, this being my everyday schedule. People telling me “do this, do that, and don’t forget that.” But it’s all part of growing up.

I’m feeling a little hungry right now, but I’m pretty bored of all the food they have here on campus. There’s a variety of food choice but in the end I always end up getting the same thing, I’m scared to try something new and end up hating it. Then it is just a waste of money. One thing that always cheers my tummy is a Jamba Juice. I’m hooked on those things. It’s one of my biggest obsessions. I’m hooked on Peenya-kow-laada right now with a fiber boost. For those of you unfamiliar with Jamba Juice which to San Francisco is nothing new, they are some of the best smoothies on earth. They are a sweet piece of heaven while still being healthy for your body and soul. Yeah, maybe their advertising and color store displays have gotten to me but I’ve checked their nutritional guides and they don’t lie to you. No other smoothie compares to these. I was so hooked on these for quite awhile that I wouldn’t miss having one at least once a week. I mean it is so accessible on my way to work. It is just one stop away on Market and Battery and my Peenya-kow-laada was there waiting for me. The employees even know me as one of their frequent customers.

It’s crazy I know. I am such a loyal customer that I have vowed to one day having a Jamba Juice installed in my house, if possible. You know like that one episode on MTv’s Cribs with Tommy Lee from Motley Crue and also known as Pam Anderson’s ex husband; he had a Starbuck’s brewery installed in his kitchen so he wouldn’t have to drive to Starbuck’s every time he wanted one. Well that’s my plan but with Jamba Juice. I know it’s quite a way of supporting big corporations like Starbucks but I just love these things. Just one 20 oz. smoothie and I feel satisfied.

I went on a tangent there, I may now sound like a worshiper of Jamba Juice, but I must concluded that I must go and get one before my tummy bursts. Maybe not exactly a Jamba Juice as I wished but some smoothie place here on campus. I need the energy on this Monday morning.

Thanks,
Melissa
