A Hunt from the Peregrine Falcon
By Greer Williams
Greer Williams wrote this poem in the 826 Valencia workshop "Wild, Wild San Francisco."
Whoosh, Whoosh!
I am a Peregrine Falcon searching for food
At the speed of 200 mph, I hunt for pigeons
A-Hah!
I see a flock of rock doves fluttering below me
I dash down faster than you imagine, and go after one of the grey
birds, then scooping it up into my sharp, elegant talons, instantly
killing it.
I take the carcass to my nest and pup, so it can be eaten
Another successful hunt by the Peregrine Falcon
Eat my young, eat.
