11 year old Hadiya Bey wrote this short poem in the 826 workshop Tween/Teen Autobiographies: Write About Your Life.

I wish my hair had a perm in it so I could wake up every morning and be able to put it in a ponytail so my mom would not have to braid it. She would not have to wake up at 6:00am and try to make my hair the way she wants it to be.
