Calling all adventurers, authors, and adventurous authors! Join us for a six-session writing workshop brought to you by 826 Valencia.

This semester, Adventurous Authors will be partnering with Nueva School educator Cristina Veresan to support students in writing essays inspired by Aimee Nezhukumatathil’s World of Wonders. In this workshop series, students will research a species of their choice and write a “wonder essay” about it in Nezhukumatathil’s style. By incorporating figurative language, students will not only describe their species but also draw both tangible and symbolic connections to it.

At the end of this workshop, students will have a narrative essay about a species that incorporates natural history facts, strong imagery, figurative language, and personal connections.

This workshop will take place across the street from 826 Valencia at The International Library of Youth Writing (849 Valencia st.)

This a six-week workshop and students are required to attend all dates:
Tuesdays February 17th-March 24th 4:00 PM-6:00 PM

To express interest in this workshop fill out this form.

After registering, staff will reach out to offer a spot depending on eligibility and availability in the program. Our workshops are open to anyone, but we do give priority to SFUSD students with socio-economic need and hold spaces for students enrolled in our other programs.
