Have you ever wondered how the tools authors use and the way they build their sentences work together to send a message to the reader? In this workshop, students will learn to identify and analyze writers’ technical moves in order to develop a thesis statement for a literary analysis essay. Students will read a text as a whole class and as small groups, and discuss how the excerpt contributes to the author’s message. Then, students will work on synthesizing all of that information into a concise analysis.
At the end of the course, students will have at least a thesis statement and one to two paragraphs of literary analysis of the excerpt of their choosing.

This a four-week workshop and students are asked to attend all dates:
3/2, 3/9, 3/16, & 3/23

To express interest in this workshop fill out this form.
