Discover the wonder of natural history with this narrative essay workshop for 10-13-year-olds!
In World of Wonders, Aimee Nezhukumatathil combines natural history information and her personal experiences to celebrate a different species in each essay. In this workshop series, students will research a species of their choice and write a “wonder essay” about it in Nezhukumatathil’s style. By incorporating figurative language, students will not only describe their species but also draw both tangible and symbolic connections to it.
At the end of this workshop, students will have a narrative essay about a species that incorporates natural history facts, strong imagery, figurative language, and personal connections.
This a five-week workshop and students are asked to attend all dates:
3/16, 3/23, 4/6, 4/13, and 4/20
