2022 Young Authors’ Book Project

We are thrilled to announce the 2022 Young Authors’ Book Project (YABP). The YABP is one of our most in-depth tutoring experiences, and it’s a chance for tutors to form meaningful, one-on-one connections with students as they become published authors over the course of five weeks.

This year we’re partnering with Mr. Amsler at June Jordan School for Equity. Students in his 10th grade English classes will be writing speculative fiction stories. Tutors will be helping students to write, revise, and polish their creative writing for publication.

We ask all tutors to commit to a regular schedule for the 5 weeks/9 sessions of this project. There are two groups that we are recruiting tutors for. All tutors will get to work one-on-one or in small groups with students during the class(es) they chose.

Tuesdays and Fridays, January 18 – February 18

Group 1: 10:15 – 11:30 a.m. (one class)

Group 2: 11:50 a.m. – 2:05 p.m. (two classes, back-to-back)

You can tutor all Tuesdays and/or all Fridays. Please sign up for every session individually (10:15 – 11:30 or 11:50 – 2:05) on Tuesdays/Fridays (9 sessions total, with Tuesday, February 1 off for Lunar New Year). If you know that you’ll have to miss a session, or have a scheduling question, please email ryan@826valencia.org.

Looking forward to creating another great book together!

Please email Ryan Young (ryan@826valencia.org) to confirm you can support our YABP project this year.
