826 celebrates fall with volunteers and donors

fallfeteOn Friday, November 15, we transformed 826’s writing lab into a festive and dimly lit venue. For what, you ask? A fall get-together to celebrate our volunteers, our donors, and the end of summer and fall renovations.

The night began with a welcome by our Executive Director, Bita Nazarian, followed by a Q&A session with the 826 Valencia staff, whose answers to questions like, “What’s your favorite place at 826?” kept the audience amused. Quirky activities followed, including open auditions for Mr. and Mrs. Blue, a writing prompt circle, interviewing techniques bootcamp, and–for the brave souls–an opportunity to test their luck at a Pirate Mystery Tattoo Shop. When guests weren’t participating in our varied activities, they were busy chatting it up over a glass of delicious ginger-infused apple cider.

We are extremely grateful for all the hours that volunteers dedicate to our students as they improve their writing and ace their homework assignments. We are equally thankful for our generous donors who play a crucial role in allowing us to provide Bay Area students with free educational programing. We hope that everyone enjoyed the event just as much as we did!
