Job Announcement: Pirate Store Manager (Note: We are no longer accepting applications for our Programs Director or Volunteer and Intern Coordinator positions.)
The Pirate Store Manager is responsible for our street-front pirate supply store, which serves as an important liaison between 826 Valencia and the larger community. The manager will work closely with our team-oriented staff to promote and fundraise for the organization and its student programs. Job responsibilities include overseeing and participating in all aspects of the pirate store including inventory, buying, shipping and receiving; managing a staff of 3 to 6 part-time store employees plus a team of volunteers; directing the design of creative products and window displays; maintaining the store’s physical appearance; attending retail expos; updating and managing the store website; and planning and executing store events. Imagination and a sense of humor are vital.

Programs Coordinator (Note: We are no longer accepting applications for our Programs Director or Volunteer and Intern Coordinator positions.)
The Programs Coordinator is responsible for supporting 826 Valencia in planning, executing, and implementing programs which include field trips, youth and parent advisory boards, and afterschool tutoring.   The Field Trips Program gives teachers an opportunity to bring their students to 826 Valencia to create a book in one morning with the help of volunteers.  The After-School Tutoring Program offers free small group academic tutoring for students ages 6 through 18.  The Youth Leadership and Advisory Board (YLAB) and Parent Leadership and Advisory Board (PLAB) give youth participants and parents, respectively, a leadership role in the organization.  The PC works with and under the direction of the Programs Director to support comprehensive writing programs intended to engage a diverse population of students in the writing process and enrich the experience of our volunteers. This position requires some late hours to cover evening and weekend events. The Program Coordinator will serve as a primary point of contact for students and families.

ABOUT THE POSITION
826 Valencia is looking for someone to join our team as an 80% to full time Volunteer and Internship Program Coordinator. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, and maintaining a volunteer pool invested in helping teachers and students in their writing endeavors, and providing a quality educational experience for interns.

ABOUT THE POSITION
826 Valencia is looking for someone to join our team as a full-time Programs Director. Responsibilities include overseeing all of our in-school programs and supporting our onsite and publishing programs. The Programs Director will work closely with the executive director, programming staff, schools, teachers, students, and volunteers. S/he will also serve as the direct manager for our workshops and publishing programs assistant.
