On Tuesday, December 22, almost all of the 826 Scholars sat down in the holiday-festooned writing lab with the 826 Valencia staff and scholarship committee for our first-ever Winter Break Breakfast. Attendees represented winners of the 826 Valencia scholarships for college-bound seniors from 2002 all the way through 2009. While munching on bagels and warming up with coffee, the group shared stories of what they have been up to in college and beyond. Older Scholars reflected on their post-university experiences in everything from graduate programs in urban planning to nonprofit work. Others discussed their current university life: the weight of their textbooks, their wild professors, and more. In the case of the 2009 Scholars, they reported back on their first semesters at school. All of them made it and all were ready to head to class in mid-January for more!
