April’s Volunteer of the Month: Kim Connor

We’re excited to honor our exceptionally talented team of volunteers through a Volunteer of the Month series. Each month we choose one volunteer to highlight in our newsletter and on our website. Check out the full Volunteer of the Month list.

Despite her demanding schedule as a professor at the School of Management at the University of San Francisco, Dr. Kim Connor makes her way to 826 Valencia nearly every Thursday to guide students in storytelling adventures through our field trips program.

One of our most dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers, Kim’s contagious energy and fearless leadership play an integral role in keeping this pirate ship afloat. Drawn to 826 Valencia by her love of teaching and her son’s own experiences taking workshops with the organization, Kim says that working with our students brings her “pure joy.”

“Few things are as gratifying as being part of an organization that makes magic every day and transforms the lives of so many—from the earnest and talented young people who staff the center to the eager and grateful students who benefit from the programs; they all give me hope for the future.”
