We are delighted to give our first 2019 Teacher of the Month Award to the amazing Bonnie Makovec of Sheridan Elementary School!

Ms. Makovec goes above and beyond to keep her students engaged in a fun way. One of the many great resources she uses in the classroom is the Bee-Bot App; an educational app that teaches young students how to code. One of her students, a kindergartner named Harry, got especially excited about this new way of learning: “I like how she showed me to draw pictures on the computer, like the Black Panther.”
But it’s not just her students who love working with her; Ms. Makovec’s colleagues were also enthusiastic when describing her as a dedicated teacher who is “equally committed to developing her students’ social-emotional growth as well as their intellectual curiosity.”
And one of the school’s administrators went on to say that, “Ms. Makovec is very thoughtful about the students and innovative in her approach to teaching.” With so many people singing her praises, it’s clear to us that she knows how to find clever ways to pique her students’ creativity and curiosity while teaching them valuable lessons along the way.
We are very impressed with Ms. Makovec’s commitment to her students and the school community as a whole. Thanks for all of the hard work you do, and congratulations on landing our January Teacher of the Month Award!
