August 26th is 826’s Youth Literacy Day! 826 Valencia will be celebrating a decade of amazing student writing with the release of a special edition of the 826 Quarterly that features our best student writing from 2002 to 2012.
A mix of students, past and present, will be reading their work from the 826 Quarterly. Artist Manny Silva will be creating on-the-spot drawings for guests. Illustrator Angela Dominguez, who designed this year’s fantastic 826 Quarterly cover, will be there too.
And, as if live reading and art weren’t enough, you’re in for a special treat. 826 Valencia will be hosting a bake sale inspired by “The President Needs $14 Trillion and Fast,” a story written by Marnie Hatch’s class and published in the 826 Quarterly.
The release party will take place on August 26 at Viracocha from 5-7 pm. This is going to be an epic celebration you won’t want to miss!
