Changing the World With Words

Teens: do you want to be published authors? Do you have a story to tell, a message to spread? In “Changing the Worlds with Words” you will have the opportunity to explore the world of writing through many different lenses, and it won’t even feel like homework. Over the course of twelve weeks you will get a chance to learn about poetry, fiction, songwriting, photojournalism, and much more. We will meet with professional artists, writers, photographers, and singers from the Bay Area, and take field trips to museums and theaters. Highlights this semester will include: a trip to Center of the Book, an insider tour of 826 Valencia and the Pirate Store, a trip to see a play at the Intersection for the Arts, and much more. At the end of the workshop, you will be published in a professional book, designed by you and your classmates, to be sold and distributed to stores and libraries all over the Bay Area. If you care about your community and want to learn how to make your stories matter, then this is the class for you!
