It is with autumnal gusto that we introduce Mira Carberry as our October Teacher of the Month! Mira is a third-grade teacher as well as the co-founder and leader of the Girls Group at Buena Vista Horace Mann K-8.
Mira’s nominators have made it clear the impact of this amazing teacher, and we are impressed by both their skill and commitment in the classroom and their leadership and dedication to students outside of it.
Clearly a caring, thoughtful, dynamic educator, Mira has impressed us with an inspiring dedication to their community through their craft. From involvement in local organizations like Teachers For Social Justice to displays of commitment to students through the Girls Group that they helped found and currently runs at BVHM, to their innovative classroom projects and fun yet calm demeanor, Mira is not only a devoted teacher but also revered by students and colleagues alike.
As one parent put it, “Mira has turned equity from a noun into a verb,” and another parent adds that Mira Carberry is “One of the most captivating and engaging teachers that I have ever seen…SFUSD is lucky to have them on their team.”
Congratulations, Mira! And thank you for all that you have done for your students and community.
