Our November 2025 Teacher of the Month is Pierre Jones

We are thrilled to announce our November 2025 Teacher of the Month, Mr. Pierre Jones! Mr. Jones is a dedicated eighth-grade Ethnic Studies teacher at Paul Revere (Pre-K–8) School and exemplifies unwavering commitment to his students, school, and community. We celebrate Mr. Jones for inspiring those around him!

Mr. Jones is deeply committed to making sure every student feels seen, heard, and supported. He pays close attention, not just to how students are doing academically, but to how they’re doing as individuals. Whether it’s offering extra help, checking in on a student who seems off, or remembering the little things that matter to them, Mr. Jones goes out of his way to make meaningful connections with his students.

Due to his care and consistency, students feel safe and valued in his classroom. They know they can count on him. They feel noticed, respected, and understood, which helps build the kind of trust that encourages them to engage more fully and confidently in their learning.

Mr. Jones consistently demonstrates a deep commitment to both his school and the broader community. He sees his role as an educator extending far beyond the walls of his classroom. He is a trusted presence, a mentor, and an advocate. His involvement in school initiatives reflects a genuine investment in the growth, empowerment, and success of all students, especially Black students who have historically been underserved in education. Due to his care and consistency, students feel safe and valued in his classroom. They know they can count on him. They feel noticed, respected, and understood, which helps build the kind of trust that encourages them to engage more fully and confidently in their learning.

One of the most powerful examples of this is Mr. Jones’s dedication to the Mastering Cultural Identity (MCI) course through SFUSD. Understanding the importance of culturally responsive support systems, Mr. Jones plays an active role in this initiative, which has been proven to support Black students’ social-emotional learning (SEL) and academic growth. Through MCI, he helps create safe, affirming spaces where Black students can be themselves, explore their identities, and connect with mentors who reflect and understand their experiences.

Mr. Jones doesn’t just facilitate programs; he helps shape them. He’s intentional about building relationships, addressing barriers, and amplifying student voices. His presence in the MCI program has helped students build confidence, develop leadership skills, and take pride in their academic journeys.

Students see Mr. Jones as someone who genuinely cares, not just about their performance, but also about their well-being and potential. Families and colleagues recognize his leadership and the impact he has on creating a more equitable, inclusive school environment. His work reminds everyone that when students are supported, seen, and affirmed, they thrive.

Mr. Jones shows real creativity and intentionality in how he runs his classroom, not just in the lessons he plans, but in the environment he creates for his students. One thing that really stands out is how he sets up his classroom each day. Every seat is assigned, and the desks are perfectly aligned so that students are facing one another and the front of the room, where the lecture space and projector are. It might seem like a small thing, but it makes a big difference.

This layout helps students stay focused, feel part of a community, and clearly see and engage with what’s being presented. It cuts down on distractions and helps create a sense of structure and calm as soon as students walk in. And what’s even more thoughtful, before they get there, Mr. Jones already has their materials laid out on each desk. Whether it’s the day’s notes, a journal prompt, or a quick activity to get them thinking, it’s already waiting for them.

This kind of preparation shows how much he values their time and wants them to feel ready, grounded, and seen. Students don’t walk into chaos or confusion; they walk into a space that’s clearly set up with their success in mind.

Mr. Jones doesn’t rely on flashy tech or over-the-top strategies. His innovation is in the details, the way he designs his space, the way he plans with intention, and how all of it comes together to create a calm, focused, and welcoming learning environment where students know they matter.
