826 Valencia’s Top 10: School Year 24-25

There were many moments that made us proud in the 2024-2025 school year. All of them had one thing in common: the voices of our students amplified and heard on every page and every stage across the city. 🌉 Here’s our top 10!

  1. Students across our summer programs had writing featured in the San Francisco Historical Society’s exhibition on poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti. 
  1. Our student Muneer R. performed a breathtaking poem at the Chase Center’s Joy to the City event.
  1. We were awarded the 49ers Foundation 2024 Legacy Beneficiary Grant!
  1. Our students’ food reviews were published on Eater SF!
  1. To celebrate National Poetry Month, our students’ poems were displayed on posters at pizza shops and bookstores across the city, and on coffee sleeves at partner coffee shops. They also performed at Ritual Coffee Roasters!
  1. Our student Unique Cooper performed a commissioned poem at Spark SF Public Schools’ annual fundraiser.
  1. Our students performed their marvelous work at our Storytellers’ Showcase.
  1. Our student Loay A.-A. performed his Eater SF food review of Costco pizza at the 49ers Foundation’s Golden Getaway Gala.
  1. We awarded our 2025 College Scholarships to five outstanding high school seniors.
  1. We partnered with KQED on a special photojournalism project to spotlight Tenderloin youth and their neighborhood!
  1. Number of eyepatches sold (or misplaced): 82.6, naturally. 🏴‍☠️
