Wondrous Wordsmiths (Ages 11-13)

This spring, we are offering middle school students the opportunity to strengthen their writing skills while exploring their identity and voice. During this six-week workshop, students will use writing for self-exploration and advocacy, culminating in a class publication.

Elementary
Come join us for a nautical writing adventure on the high seas! The workshop will begin with an OPTIONAL trip to San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, where you will tour the 1886 sailing vessel, Balclutha, and other historic ships. Learn about the work sailors did in the olden days, what they ate, and how they passed the time on long voyages. You will also attend a singalong and hear how sailors used music to help them with their work. During the second two sessions, you will craft stories, sea songs, poems or letters, incorporating the sites and sounds of the sea. Students will read their writing aloud for family and friends at 826 Valencia on Sunday, February 9th.
