Scholarship Awards Dinner 2015

Best of luck to these outstanding youth leaders heading off to college this fall!

On August 11th, the 826 Valencia community welcomed our newest scholarship winners to the 2015 Scholarship Dinner at The Chapel.

The eight college-bound students were introduced and welcomed to the stage by past scholarship winners, board members, and 826 Valencia staff, and their accomplishments, talents, and goals for the future honored in touching and inspiring speeches. The tables were buzzing with excitement over both the meal, generously served and provided by The Chapel in partnership with Books, Inc., as well as the upcoming departures of many students to their chosen colleges. Past scholars shared words of encouragement alongside the many congratulations from the 826 community made up of family, friends, donors, and staff.

With the help of the scholarship program’s generous supporters, 826 Valencia is each year able to award $15,000 scholarships to Bay Area high school seniors who have been involved in our programming. These supporters continue to make a huge impact on the opportunities we can provide. We would like to thank City Arts & Lectures, the family of Taylor Renfrew Ingham, Tom Savignano, Art Berliner and Marian Lever, The Kochi Foundation, and Tino Mori for funding the scholarship program. We look forward to hearing about what this next year holds for these deserving students and young authors.
