Extra, Extra! Read all about it! This winter’s edition of the Straight-up News is hot off the press! Everett Middle School’s newspaper, written Mr. Algones’ class of witty eighth-grade journalists, just released its second issue of the school year. The students worked extremely hard to get their articles done on time, and the topics range from a review of Twilight, to an article on Occupy San Francisco to a report on animal cruelty. Of course, we cannot forget to mention the newest section of the newspaper: an advice column where students anonymously write in with their questions to Bridgette and Sophie in hopes of getting a helpful answer.
To celebrate the release of the paper, students, 826 Valencia tutors, and EMS teachers read the paper together over pizza and soda. Then the students went classroom to classroom distributing copies of the newspaper. 826 Valencia is very proud of our intrepid journalists, who are currently working on their third issue.
