Ah, fall is in the air, and at 826 Valencia, that means it’s college application season! Each year, we host the Great San Francisco Personal Statement Weekend to offer one-on-one college entrance essay tutoring to nearly 200 high school seniors.
On October 26 and 27, we hosted this year’s event at Mission High School, serving 191 students–more than ever before. Over one hundred trained volunteers made this weekend possible by donating their time and energy to help students write and edit their essays over the course of the weekend. The excitement was palpable throughout the computer labs as students worked with volunteers to polish their writing and leave this year’s event with essays they could feel truly proud to submit. We wish all San Francisco high school seniors the best of luck on the college application process!
826 Valencia would like to thank everyone who made this weekend successful. Thank you to our volunteers for their inspiring commitment to San Francisco students. Thanks to Mission High School for continuing to partner with us and lend us your computer labs and classrooms for this annual event. Thanks to Whole Foods for providing snacks and drinks to keep students and volunteers energized throughout the weekend.
