We’re pleased to present our first Teacher of the Month Award of 2018 to Kristin Engler of Alvarado Elementary School! Ms. Engler teaches third grade and has devoted over 20 years to helping students, making sure each one of them thrives at their own pace. Her nominators comment on her “tireless dedication to her job”, as she can often be found in her classroom on weekends or evenings researching strategies and planning for an individualized curriculum to make sure each student’s needs are met.
Ms. Engler (also referred to by one nominator as “a gem of a teacher”) is known for her creative energy and for sharing her artistic talents with students through projects that build not only creativity but also community. She is always connecting content to the arts to lift spirits and make lessons more fun.
Parents added that “Ms. Engler gives her heart and soul to help each and every student reach their highest potential.” One parent commented on Ms. Engler’s personal impact in building her son’s reading confidence and skills, and particularly appreciates her open door policy in that “children from all grades come into her classroom after school for conversation, learning, and bonding.”
We are honored to start the year by recognizing this gem of a teacher as our amazing Teacher of the Month! Congratulations, Kristin!
