We’re gearing up for the 2017 Young Authors’ Book Project, our biggest publishing project of the year, and we need your help.
What’s the Young Authors’ Book Project?
The YABP is one of our most in-depth tutoring experiences, and it’s a chance for tutors to form meaningful, one-on-one connections with an amazing group of high school students as they become published authors over the course of five weeks.
This year we’re partnering with Phillip and Sala Burton Academic High School for this project. We’ll be working with twelfth graders as they write, revise, and polish personal or fictional narratives that relate to themes from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. We need 60 volunteers to work one-on-one with our young authors and make this project a success! Frankenstein fluency is not necessary — tutors will be prepped with a project-specific orientation that will tell you everything you need to know.
We ask all tutors to commit to a regular schedule for the 5 weeks of this project. Here are the options you can sign up for (you can sign up for one or both!)
Group 1: Mondays and Thursdays, 9:55 – 10:55 a.m., January 9 – February 13
Group 2: Mondays and Thursdays, 12:40 – 2:40 p.m., January 9 – February 13
