826 Valencia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting under-resourced students ages six to eighteen with their creative and expository writing skills and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.
As 826 Valencia has grown from a single namesake storefront and writing center in the Mission, to serving thousands of students all across San Francisco from three Centers (Mission, Tenderloin and Mission Bay), we are excited to welcome two new members to our expanded Executive Board: Keith O.
Hello all! My name is Emma and I first started my 826 journey as a volunteer at the Tenderloin and Mission centers in the spring of 2019, where I fell in love with the organization (and the students!)
2020 is finally drawing to a close, and as we look back on this tumultuous year, we are deeply grateful for all our volunteers who stuck with us through all the changes.
This unprecedented, historic, generation-defining year continues. As of this update, we’ve been essentially sheltering-in-place for 9 months—more than we ever could have anticipated when we first closed our spaces and moved our programs online in March.
